Privacy Policy

The short version
Your tasks stay on your phone. If you make an account, we keep your email and name to run it. No ads, no tracking, no selling your data.
- Without an account, nothing you put in Interval leaves your phone. We can't see it.
- An account is optional. Your tasks are not uploaded, even when you're signed in. Sync isn't available yet.
- You can delete your account at any time, and it's gone right away.
1. Who we are
Interval is an Android app for tasks, reminders, goals and lists, made by Nerya Sheetrit, an independent developer based in Israel. Nerya Sheetrit is the data controller for the data described here. You can reach us at support@interval-app.net.
This policy covers the Interval app, its account service at api.interval-app.net, and this website.
2. Using Interval without an account
This is how Interval works by default. Everything stays on your phone, in the app's private storage:
- Your tasks (name, note, schedule, due dates, priority, colour, steps), goals and their sections, and the history of when you completed tasks.
- Comments, tags, filters, lists and list items, and reminder settings.
- Files you attach to comments (photos, PDFs or any file you pick). Interval copies them into its private storage.
- Your settings, such as theme, display name, notification persona and layout choices.
None of this is sent to a server. We can't see any of it.
3. If you create an account
Signing in is optional. It's only needed for account features such as sync, which is coming later. Accounts are handled by the Interval API at api.interval-app.net. It stores:
- Your email address and name.
- If you sign up with email: a hash of your password, made with argon2id. Your password itself is never stored.
- If you sign in with Google: your Google account ID, email address, name, and whether Google has verified your email. These come from Google's sign-in token. We never see your Google password, and we don't ask Google for anything else: no contacts, calendar, Drive or photos.
- Sessions: one for each device you're signed in on. Each stores the device model (for example "Google Pixel 8"), the platform ("android"), the app version, and when the session started and was last used.
- IP addresses: processed to protect the service from abuse (rate limiting) and kept in short-lived server logs. Passwords and sign-in tokens are never logged.
Your tasks are not uploaded. Even with an account, your tasks, goals, comments and attachments stay on your phone. When sync launches, synced data will be stored on the server for your account. We'll update this policy before that happens.
Emails we send: a link to confirm your email address, password reset links (valid for 1 hour), and account deletion confirmations. We don't send marketing emails.
On your phone, your sign-in session is stored encrypted, with a key kept in Android's secure keystore. It is excluded from device backups.
4. Why we use your data
| What | Why | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Email, name, password hash, Google account ID, sessions | To create your account, sign you in, and keep you signed in on your devices | Performing our agreement with you |
| Account emails | To confirm your address, reset your password and confirm account deletion | Performing our agreement with you |
| IP addresses and server logs | To keep the service secure, stop abuse and fix problems | Our legitimate interest in a safe, working service |
| Notifications | To send the reminders you set up | Your choice: you grant the permission and can turn it off |
We don't use your data for advertising or profiling. We don't sell it or rent it to anyone.
5. Service providers
A few companies help run Interval. They act only on our instructions:
- Railway hosts the Interval API and its database, which hold the account data described above.
- Resend sends our account emails, so it receives your email address and the content of those emails.
- Google provides "Sign in with Google", through Google Play services and Android's Credential Manager. Google Play also collects standard crash and diagnostics reports, such as device model, Android version and the time of a crash. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Interval has no ads, no analytics tools and no trackers. The app includes no advertising or analytics libraries.
6. App permissions
| Permission | Why Interval asks |
|---|---|
| Notifications | Task and goal reminders, the daily 8 PM nudge, and the optional ongoing reminder. You can turn them off in the app or in Android settings. |
| Alarms and reminders | So reminders arrive on time. Without it, they may be a few minutes late. |
| Run at startup | Restarting your phone clears its alarms. Interval sets your reminders again after a restart. |
| Vibration | A small buzz when you complete a task. |
| Internet | Only for signing in and your account (and later, sync). |
| Display over other apps (optional) | Only for the home screen widget's small "Undo" message. Interval no longer asks for it. Only people who allowed it before still have it. |
| Battery optimisation (optional) | Interval can open Android's settings so you can let reminders run reliably. It doesn't change this setting itself. |
Interval doesn't access your contacts, location, camera, microphone or your general storage. It only reads a file when you pick one (an attachment or a backup to import). It only writes a file where you choose (an attachment download or a backup export).
7. Backups and export
- Export and import. From the Account screen, under Your data, you can export everything (tasks, goals, lists, settings and attachments) to a single .zip file, saved wherever you choose. This file is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere safe. Importing a backup replaces the data on your phone.
- Android backup. If device backup is turned on, Android may back up Interval's data to your Google account, under Google's terms. Your sign-in session is never included.
8. Sharing
We don't share your data with anyone except the service providers above. Sharing in the app always starts with you:
- The "goal completed" card is shared as an image through Android's share menu, to whoever you choose.
- You can download attachments.
- "Send feedback" opens your email app with a message to support@interval-app.net that includes the app version, Android version and device model. You see it and decide whether to send it.
- Links inside comments open in your browser.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order.
9. How long we keep data
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Sessions: until you sign out on that device, or after 60 days without use. Expired sessions are deleted automatically.
- Email links: they stop working after 1 hour (password reset, account deletion) or 48 hours (email confirmation). We delete them automatically soon after.
- Server logs: kept for a short time by our hosting provider, then deleted.
- Data on your phone: stays until you delete it or uninstall the app.
10. Deleting your data
- Without an account: uninstalling Interval, or clearing its data in Android settings, deletes everything on your phone.
- With an account: in the app, go to Account, then Your data, then Delete account. You can also use the delete account page, or email support@interval-app.net. This permanently deletes your account and everything stored with it on the server, right away. Tasks on your phone stay on your phone.
- Signing out removes the session from your phone and ends it on the server.
11. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct it (you can also change your name in the app);
- delete it;
- give it to you in a portable format;
- stop or limit a particular use of it, or object to it.
Email support@interval-app.net from the address on your account. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to a data protection authority: in Israel, the Privacy Protection Authority; in the EU or UK, the authority where you live.
12. International transfers
Our service providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, offered by these providers.
13. Security
Interval only talks to its server over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with argon2id. Sign-in tokens and email links are stored only as hashes. Your sign-in session on the phone is encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, so we also suggest a screen lock on your phone. It protects everything on it, including Interval.
14. Children
Interval isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you're under 16 and live in the EU or UK, please ask a parent or guardian before creating an account. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we'll delete it.
15. This website
interval-app.net uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. Its fonts and images are served from this site, not from third parties. Like any website, the server that delivers these pages receives your IP address and browser details to send them to you. Links to Google Play take you to Google, under Google's own privacy policy.
16. Changes to this policy
When Interval changes, for example when sync or the Pro plan launches, we'll update this policy and the date at the top. If a change matters for how we use your data, we'll tell you in the app, or by email if you have an account, before it takes effect.
